Mary Elizabeth Hoelting, 91, of Rural Olpe, Kansas died on January 16, 2011 at her home.
Mary Elizabeth Birkenfeld was born on July 5, 1919 in Nazareth, Texas the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth (Leinen) Birkenfeld. She married Norbert Hoelting on October 17, 1939 in Nazareth, Texas. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include: sons, Floyd (JoEllen) Hoelting of Austin, Texas, Henry(Marsha) Hoelting of Olpe, Kansas Daryl (Kim) Hoelting of Salina, Kansas, Galen Hoelting of Olpe, Kansas, and Neal (Vicki) Hoelting of Wichita, Kansas; daughters, Elsie Hoelting of Boulder, Colorado, Leona Hoelting of Chicago, Illinois, Viola Hoelting of Olpe, Kansas, Joyce (Dick) Ratcliff of Salina, Kansas, Donna (Gary) Herron of Chanute, Kansas, and Mary Beth (Rusty) Bonitatibus of Olpe, Kansas; sister Dora Pohlmeier of Amarillo, Texas; twenty-five grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers John, Thomas, and Walter Birkenfeld; sisters Petronilla and Marcella Birkenfeld, and Julie Brockman; and three grandchildren.
Mary was a homemaker. She moved to Lyon County in 1946. She was a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church with Father Anthony Williams of the church conducting the service. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the church. Cremation has taken place, a private inurnment will take place later at the Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe, Kansas.
The family requesst no flowers, with memorial contributions to the Saint Joseph Catholic School sent in care of the funeral home.
