Emporia

Aaron Ellis Smith of Emporia, departed this plane with close friends and family by his side at Newman Regional Health on Friday August 26, 2022. He was 28 years old.

Born to Tina Silver and Mel Conner in Emporia, KS on January 12, 1994. He worked at La Quinta in Emporia as a Night Auditor, but he loved writing and dreamed of being an author. Spending time and creating memories with the people he cared about was one of his favorite pastimes. Some of his hobbies were being a Cat Dad, listening to music, playing games, and laughing. He loved making people smile and laugh. In return, Aaron will continue to be loved by many.

Aaron is survived by his father, Mel Conner of Emporia; sister, Brittany Smith, of Perry, OK; his brother William (fiancé Lydia) Conner, and nephew Brody, of Madison, KS; his cats, Cuddles and Venelope, whom he loved and cherished as his children; lifelong best friends that are considered family, Jerry Adams, Ashley Maley (daughters Zoe and Zayla-Jean), and Nichole Saffer, all of Emporia, KS; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Tina Conner; grandmothers, Genevieve Smith and Joy Velez; and uncle, Jason Herter.

To honor his wishes, cremation is planned along with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions to the Aaron Smith Memorial Fund can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.

One of his poems, in memoriam:

"Which is fact, and which is fiction. Life is a blur going way too fast. The emotions inside me causing friction, and Nobody can tell me how long this lasts. So now I live my life for you, I swear I'm going to make you proud. I should've done this while you were here too but I'll settle to feel your love from the other side of the clouds" -Aaron Smith
