Abbi Kate Markowitz

November 20, 1984 — October 20, 2025

El Dorado

Abbi Kate Markowitz, 40, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on October 20, 2025.  Born on November 20, 1984.  Abbi lived a life filled with laughter, creativity, and love that touched everyone she met.

A proud graduate of Lyndon High School's Class of 2003, Abbi was a talented athlete who played volleyball, basketball and softball.  She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University in 2013 and a master's in education administration from the University of Kansas in 2017.

Abbi's greatest joy came on September 17, 2008, when she welcomed her beloved son, Jaxson Wyatt Markowitz, into the world.  He was the light of her life and the center of her every adventure.

For 12 years, Abbi devoted herself to teaching elementary students in the El Dorado, Kansas, USD #490 school district.  Her creativity, patience and deep love for children made her a cherished teacher and colleague.  She later continued her passion for education through online teaching and curriculum development, where her influence reached even farther.

Abbi was known for her creativity and unique sense of humor.  The ultimate DIYer, her handmade gifts and clever Cricut creations – especially her custom T-shirts – brought joy to family and friends.  Christmas was her favorite time of year, and her ever-changing decorations were always a highlight of the season.

Those who knew Abbi will forever remember her infectious laugh, her love of playing cards, her fondness for winning slot machine and her simple pleasures – like sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee (and often a well-deserved nap afterward).

Her nieces and nephews adored her, and she adored them right back.  Abbi and Jaxson shared a love of travel and adventure, always ready for their next trip together.  She was also the family's go-to tech expert, recipe finder and dog lover, keeping her beloved pups Sophie and Brutus close by.

Abbi left this world far too soon, but her love, warmth and creativity live on through her son, Jaxson, and all those who were lucky enough to know her.

She is survived by her son, Jaxson Wyatt Markowitz; her parents Greg and Trish Markowitz, her siblings Becky Burnett (Dan), Todd Markowitz (Kerry), Lucas Markowitz (Tasia) and Greta Ziegler (Zach) and her cherished nieces and nephews;  Bryan Burnett (Shannon), Seth Burnett (Bri), Grace Markowitz and Eli Markowitz, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, colleagues and students who loved her deeply.
