Agnes H. Hensler, 97, of Emporia, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in rural Emporia.
Agnes Helen Hensler, the daughter of Louis Jacob and Mary Theresia Gamer Hensler, was born May 25, 1914 in the Homestead Community in Chase County. Her family moved to Lyon County in 1919. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Emporia High School. She had been the Production Manager at Sauder Tank Co., retiring in 1977.
Agnes is survived by: her caregiver, Shirley Poff of Emporia; her cousins, Ruth Baldridge, Patricia Barrett, Jim Gamer, and Tom Hensler all of Emporia, Fred Gamer of Salina, Kansas, Margaret Haney of Eureka, Kansas, Joseph Gamer of Minnesota, Jim Hensler of Wichita, Kansas, and Wayne Palmer of Kansas City, Kansas.
Agnes was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; Sacred Heart Rosary Altar Society; the Secular Franciscans; she was an Outstanding Alumna of Sacred Heart School, and was the last surviving member of the first graduating class from Sacred Heart School; and a seventeen-year volunteer with the Reach Program.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. The Mass will be celebrated by Father Rich Warsnak of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions to either Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Sacred Heart Catholic School may be sent in care of the funeral home.
