Albert Lee “Lee” Andrews, Emporia, Kansas, died at Newman Regional Health on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. He was 81.
  
  
  Albert Lee Andrews was born March 3, 1929, at Emporia, Kansas, the son of Edwin Earl and Dorothy Lucile Spencer Andrews. Lee married Dorothy May Burden at the First United Methodist Church, Emporia, Kansas on September 11, 1948. She survives of the home.
  
  
  Other family members include: Daughter, Kathy Jenkinson, Leon, Kansas; Son, Edwin C. Andrews, Chepachet, R.I. Sisters: Arlene LeCocq, Arvada, Colorado; Lila Madtson, Austin, Texas; and Edna Vanous, Oviedo, Florida. Grandchildren: Adele Rose Andrews, Andrew Heath Jenkinson, and Nikki Christine Brooks. Great-Grandchildren: Hayden Brooks, Jackson Call, Heath Jenkinson, and Jamie Jenkinson.
  
  
  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion, and formerly a member of the Post Color Guard; Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Emporia Masonic Lodge #12, A.F.& A.M.; the Arab Shrine; and formerly the Jaycees. He was a former member and Past President of the Emporia Local of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Lee had served as Cub Master for the Cub Scout Pack at Maynard School and for many years had been a league bowler at Bluestem Bowl.
  
  
  Mr. Andrews served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 6th Armored as a Heavy Equipment Trainer at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and left the service with the rank of Corporal.
  
  
  Lee’s first job was with Ziegler’s Auto Repair, then in the paint and repair department of the Santa Fe Railroad, both in Emporia. Following his military service, he returned to work for the Santa Fe Railroad in the Argentine neighborhood in Kansas City, Kansas. He worked 26 years for the United State Postal Service in Emporia, as both a letter carrier and later as delivery supervisor. Following retirement from the Postal Service, he drove a school bus for USD #253, Emporia.
  
  
  Funeral services will be in the Chapel of the Roberts-Blue-Barnet Funeral Home, Emporia, on Tuesday, October 12 at 10:30 A.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Nancy Gammill of the First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, south of Emporia. Military Graveside Services by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
  
  
  Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 7:00 until 8:00.
