Albert William Vogts

Albert William Vogts, 90, of rural Madison, Kansas, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia.

Albert was born on November 28, 1922 in Canton, Kansas, the son of William and Mary Jahn Vogts. He married Josephine Hinrichs Vogts on June 3, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Olpe. She survives.

Other survivors include: sons, Dennis Vogts of Mesa, Arizona, Mike Vogts of Madison, and Keith Vogts of Manhattan; daughters, Phillis Thomas of Emporia, and Beverly Miller of Madison; brother, Walter Vogts of Canton; eight grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nineteen step-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Lester Vogts, and sisters, Rose Guerrette, Freida Hill, Fern Nielson, and Virgie Kubin.

Albert farmed his whole life up until his retirement seven years ago. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Olpe. Visitation will be Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
