Alexander Doban, 85, of Camden, Maine, passed away September 25, 2013.

Born in Manville, New Jersey on May 1, 1928, he was at son of Gabor and Mary Doban. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea with Co. B 131st Infantry Regiment. He then joined friends to attend Kansas State College in Emporia, Kansas, where he met his wife-to-be, Ina Lou Henry. After graduating with a degree in business administration, Al worked at Diehl Manufacturing Company (Singers) as an industrial engineer.

Later, he worked for Westinghouse, and then for Mack Trucks, Inc. for 25 years in Hagerstown, Maryland as an industrial and manufacturing engineer and cost estimator.

Al and Ina were married September 26, 1953 in New Jersey, Maryland, and then moved to Camden, Maine after retirement. Al was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Ina also loved to travel, and made many trips to Europe and Canada.

Al was a strong person, physically, mentally and emotionally. Those close to him sensed this and it meant the world to them.

Al was predeceased in death by two brothers, John and Michael; and four sisters, Mary, Irene, Julia and Helen. Survivors include his wife, Ina Doban; and his brother, Joseph.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, east of Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Bob Colerick of First Christian Church, Emporia. If desired, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church of Emporia, Rockport Public Library, or KWL Hospice, and sent in care of the funeral home.
