Alice M. Bechtel, 79, Olpe, Kansas, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
Alice Marie Schneider was born October 31, 1946 in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Albin J. and Irene E. (Vohs) Schneider. Alice and Harry Leon Bechtel wre married at Saint Joseph Catholic Church , Olpe, on June 12, 1965. Harry survives of the home. Also surviving are son; Lt. Col. (U.S. Marine Corps, retd) James M. (Jennifer) Bechtel, Virginia, daughters; Carol A. Montanye, Minnesota, and Karen S. Rayburn, Illinois, brother; Robert Schneider, Kansas, sisters; Sister Joann Schneider, CSI, Kansas, Jane R. Schrader, Indiana, Nancy Langley, Arkansas, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by brothers; Leo, Vincent, and Edward Schneider, and son in Law; Michael Montanye.
Alice Was employed by the Burlington School District at the elementary school for 10 years, and before that worked at the Reeble’s north Bakery as a clerk for 20 years. Prior to Reeble’s she worked at the Chicken House in Olpe, and in the supply department at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Emporia.
She was a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, Kansas, where she served as a CCD Teacher, and was a volunteer for several church programs.
The Rosary will be recited on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 7:00 P.M. at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe. Family and friends will gather at the Parish Hall of the church following the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Cremation will follow, with inurnment in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
