Alice Arlene Potter DiGiovanni, 85, Topeka, Kansas, formerly Emporia, passed away at Saint John Hospital, Leavenworth, Kansas on Friday, October 14, 2016.

Alice Arlene Maddern was born in Emporia, Kansas on May 11, 1931, the daughter of Charles and Edna Maddern. She married Gene Potter in 1947 and he died in 1986. She later married Joseph L. DiGiovanni in 1996. He survives.

Other surviving family members include her sons, Allan E. (Stacy) Potter, Clovis, NM and Jim S. (Paula) Potter, Baldwin City, KS; grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Dillon, Topeka, KS, Shelby (Dennis) Brown, Topeka, KS, Travis (Emma) Potter, Wellsville, KS, Ami (Shannon) Agan, Desoto, KS, and LaDusta Coble, Topeka, KS; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Barbie Potter/Gurwell, Overland Park, KS; stepdaughters, Anna (Raymond) Cousin, Mandeville, LA, Frannie Coble, Emporia, KS; and stepson, Joseph DiGiovanni, Jr, Slidell, LA.

Arlene worked and retired from the Santa Fe Railway Co. as a PBX communications operator and was a Physicians Secretary. She also was Office Manager for Gene Potter Excavating Contractor.

Arlene was a Devoted member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Emporia, KS. She served on the church Board of Directors, The Christian Life Board and was children’s Director for many years. Arlene was all about her family and dedicated to every one of them.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Church of the Nazarene, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Jon Fillipi. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
