Alma May Hartig, 93 of Emporia, Kansas, died Friday, October 4, 2013 at Holiday Resort, Emporia.
  
  
  Alma May Pringle was born August 2, 1920 in Elmdale, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel Alfred and Laura Elizabeth (Gawith) Pringle. She married John Neal Hartig on March 24, 1940 in Strong City, Kansas. They moved to Emporia in 1943. He died January 17, 1975 in Emporia.
  
  
  She is survived by son, Melvin Hartig of Emporia; daughters, Connie Hilbish of Emporia, and Betty Mackey of Eudora, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
  
  
  Alma worked as a bookkeeper for Emporia Livestock until her retirement 31 years ago. She then worked as a caregiver for many years. She was involved in 4-H in her early years, and was active with the Home Extension Unit. She was also a volunteer at the Emporia Senior Center.
  
  
  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Pastor Marilyn Christmore of Saffordville United Methodist Church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
  
  
  The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, October 7, 2013 at the funeral home.
  
  
  Memorial contributions may be made to Cottonwood Community Center (west of Emporia) or Emporia Friends of the Zoo and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
