Alta Mae Weeks, 78, of rural Emporia, died on March 23, 2011 at her home.

Mae was born on December 21, 1932 in Osage County, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Grace Bickford Burns. She married Dale L. Weeks, Sr. on April 27, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include: sons, Dale L. Weeks, Jr. and wife Sandy of Emporia, Kansas, and Tony W. Weeks of Independence, Missouri; brother, Earl Burns of Osage City, Kansas; sisters, Dollie Brecheisen of Lyndon, Kansas, Clara Bryan of Osage City, Kansas, Donna Hannigan of Admire, Kansas, and Eva Anstaett of Burlingame, Kansas; grandchildren, Nicole Anderson of Emporia, Kansas, Michelle (Travis) Barnett of Emporia, Kansas, Shawn (Shannon) Weeks of Tonganoxie, Kansas and Noah and Chloe Weeks of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Haley Barnett, Dylan, Alex, Logan Anderson, and Gwen and Gavin Weeks.

She is preceded in death by: her granddaughter, Danielle Lyn Weeks; brothers, Charlie, Clifford, and Robert Burns; infant twin sisters; and her parents.

Mae was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Detwiler of Grace United Methodist Church conducting the service. The visitation will be from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening, March 25, 2011, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
