Andrew John Rodriguez, 68, of Emporia, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at his home.
Andrew was born on February 4, 1945 in Emporia, the son of Lorenzo and Sofia Torres Rodriguez. He married Madeline Terrones in Emporia; she died previously in Kansas City, Kansas. He later married Janet E. Smith on October 19, 1968 in Emporia. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: son, Jeffrey Rodriguez and wife Erin of Emporia; daughters, Jessica Rodriguez and Jennifer Rodriguez, both of Emporia; brothers, John Rodriguez, Raymond Rodriguez, and Gabriel Rodriguez, all of Emporia, and Manuel Rodriguez of Lawrence, Kansas; sister, Monica Rodriguez of Emporia; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jacqueline Rodriguez; a sister, Esperanza Rodriguez; and a brother, Victor Rodriguez.
Andrew worked for the City of Emporia for 23 years before retiring four years ago as the head of the Sign and Marking Department. He was a member of Didde Catholic Campus Center, Emporia, and was the bass player for the La Raza Band in Emporia for over 45 years.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the church. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia.
