Angel Silva, 86, Emporia, Kansas, died Saturday, May 10, 2014.


Angel had worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 44 years, and was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way.


He was born August 2, 1927 in Madison, Kansas, the son of Jose L. and Ines (Arellano) Silva, who died earlier. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Lola Vasquez, Louise Silva, Natividad Garibay, Margaret Rodriguez, and Maclovia Wofford; and brothers, Louis Silva and Martin Silva.


Surviving family members include brothers, Filimon and Paul Silva, Wichita; and sisters, Sister Bernadette Silva, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Virginia Granada, Salina, Kansas, and Lennie Castaneda, Wichita, Kansas.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia, with Father Tom Dolezal, celebrant. Cremation will follow the Mass.


The Rosary will be recited at the church Wednesday evening, May 14, 2014 at 7:15 P.M.
