Ann Josephine (Johnson) Havenhill passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Overland Park at the age of 88.
She was born July 11, 1936, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Marvin and Norine (Howard) Johnson. She married Marshall Asher "Jack" Havenhill, II May 31, 1958. He preceded her in death in 2017.
Ann is survived by her three children; Amy Schulte (Scott), Overland Park, Kansas, Dr. Asher Havenhill (Mary), Tucson, Arizona and Annette Dix (Kevin), Manhattan, Kansas, and grandchildren: Elizabeth Schulte Blumeyer (Dan), Brent Schulte (Morey), Suzanne Schulte- Slaney (Jonathan), Jonathan Havenhill, Emily Havenhill (Bryce), Phillip Dix (Michelle), and Krista Dix, and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by her brothers Howard and Carl Johnson.
Ann graduated from Topeka High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Kansas. After graduation, she taught second grade in the Kansas City area until her children were born.
Ann had a love for music. She played the flute, piano, and organ. She enjoyed playing in the Emporia Municipal Band and the Emporia Flute Choir. She shared her gift of music by teaching private lessons to beginning flute students.
Ann was active as a Girl Scout leader. She served as a P.E.O. officer in her local chapter and also served on the Kansas State Chapter nominating committee. She was active in the Emporia Arts Council and served as a docent at the Tallgrass Prairie.
Ann was always looking for ways to make her community and the world a better place. She spent time educating the community on recycling and was an advocate for bringing curbside recycling to the community of Emporia. She was active in The League of Women Voters, serving as Kansas State President in 2002.
Ann was active in Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She served on the house corporation for Tau Chapter in Lawrence, Kansas. She served on the national finance committee and from 1983 to 1989 she served on the National Grand Council as Grand Treasurer.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Mark's Lutheran Church, Emporia. Private family inurnment services will be held at a later date in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.

Havenhill Scholarship was established to support their belief in the importance of higher education and to provide an educational opportunity to all students.
