Anna Marie Graeber Mallon passed away on December 29, 2016. She was with her loving family at her home, Vintage Park Assisted Living Facility in Gardner, Kansas.
She was born in Denver, Colorado, on May 28, 1931, the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Ochs) Graeber. Anna met Larry Cecil Mallon in Salina, KS while attending Mary Mount College. They were married on July 21, 1951. He preceded her in death, as well as her parents.
Surviving family members include: sons, James Mallon and wife MaryBeth of Liberty, MO, and Steve Mallon and wife Paula of Olathe, KS; her younger brother, Edward Graber, Jr. and wife Alice of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Sharon Rife, Liberty, MO; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews.
After their wedding in July of 1951, Anna and Larry moved to Emporia, KS. They lived happily together until Larry’s death in 2008. Anna moved to DeSoto, KS in 2010, and then to Gardner in 2015.
She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a Cub Scout Leader for many years, and bowled on the same bowling team for over 40 years. She was an avid gardener; she belonged to the Women’s Garden Club of Emporia, and judged many iris and rose competitions. Larry and Anna was also members of the Emporia Antique Car Club.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 2, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia.
The family would like to express their gratitude of the loving care she has received from the staff of Vintage Park of Gardner and Vitas Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either organization and sent in care of the funeral home.
