Emporia

Anthony “Ant” Roger Esquivel of Emporia died on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at his home (after a battle with cancer).  He was 34.

Anthony was born on August 24, 1986 in Carrizo Spring, Texas the son of Guadalupe B. Sr. and Norma Vargas Esquivel.  He married Daniella Nava but later divorced.

Surviving family members include: son, Thiago Esquivel of Emporia; daughter, Ciara Esquivel of Emporia; parents, Guadalupe and Norma Esquivel of Emporia; grandmother, Belinda Castillo of Round Rock, Texas; brothers, Guadalupe “Lupe” Esquivel, Jr, Keith Jacob Esquivel, and Bruce Esquivel all of Emporia.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Melchor and Manuela Esquivel, and grandfather Roger Vargas.

Anthony was a kitchen deck operator for Simmons for over 15 years.  Anthony loved his family, he made sure to always be at his kid’s soccer game. On the weekends you could catch him cooking out for his friends and family. He loved nothing more than being around family and friends. He was into fishing with his brothers and nephews. Anthony had recently bought a boat to take all the kids tubing and have fun on the lake. Anthony was the type of man to give you his shirt off his back and joke to you about why you didn’t have a shirt in the first place. If you were hungry, he would feed you, if you were down, he’d always be around to help and pick you up. If you fell, he’d make sure you were ok. His heart was made of gold and his presence was well known. The legacy he leaves behind is one that every man, or parent would be proud of. His family is very very proud and will always love and miss him.

Cremation is planned with a celebration of life at a later date.  Memorial contributions to the Emporia Friends of the Zoo can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, PO Box 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
