Arlen Scott Stueve passed away at his home on September 24th, 2023. He was born December 7th, 1953 to Carl and Ruth Stueve and was the 5th of 8 children. Arlen attended Emporia High School and was a Marine Veteran. He married Brenda Tempelmeyer on January 6th, 1979. He worked at Modine Manufacturing and then Lyon County Road and Bridge before retiring. Arlen was a lifelong and active member of Ebenezer Church.
Arlen was an avid coon hunter, and loved farming and baling hay on the farm where he lived his entire life. Arlen loved visiting with neighbors and friends and never knew a stranger. His faith in Jesus Christ and his family were his most valued possessions.
Arlen is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Clint Stueve. Arlen is survived by his wife of 44 years, 3 daughters and their families: Rachel and Jeff Matile of Americus, Sarah and Aaron Fall of Pretty Prairie, and Rebecca and Anthony Wichert of Buhler, along with 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sylvia Heins, and brothers Carl Lee Stueve, Calvin Stueve and Mark Stueve of Olpe, Wes Stueve of Oklahoma, and Doug Stueve of Emporia, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Cremation is planned. The memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Emporia, KS, Thursday, September 28th, at 10:00am. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27th at Ebenezer Church West of Olpe from 5 to 7pm, followed by a hymn sing in the church yard honoring Arlen’s love of music.
