Arlene Joan Hopper, 79 of Emporia, Kansas died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at her home.
Arlene was born April 1, 1937 in Admire, Kansas the daughter of William Green and Edna Margaret Ann Nette (Bolinder) Osborne. Arlene was the office manager at Newman Hospital for 25. She moved to Great Bend and then the Kansas City area before moving home to be office manager for Emporia Anesthesia Associates until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of the Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion Auxillary. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, dancing, spending time with family and friends, crocheting, sewing, cooking, bbq and wine time country music. Arlene had a heart of gold and was very caring, sometimes too much. She spent many hours with special friends Glen and Jo McAntee and daughters Janet and Sue, and Don and Shirley Maxwell and children Rodney, Terry and Joyce.
Arlene married William “Bill” Hopper in a double ceremony with Lois and Pat Hannigan on March 16, 1957 in Admire, Kansas. Bill died June 18, 2003 in Twin Falls, Idaho. She is survived by: daughter Linda Edmunds and husband Randy of Allen, Kansas, son Douglas Hopper and wife Sherry of Emporia, Kansas, grandchildren Jakob Edmunds, Jarrod Edmunds, Catherine Dunn, Racholle King, Ashley Hopper, Cassie Hopper, Ryan Hopper and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters Gerry Jones, Wilma Conway, Helen Redeker, Dorothy Goodell, and Lois Hannigan.
Graveside services and Inurnment will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 27, 2017 at Rosean Cemetery north of Emporia. Pastor Rob Clausen of the First Baptist Church in Emporia will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
