Arlene E. Shepherd, Emporia, Kansas, died at Flint Hills Care Center on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the age of 78.
Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 12, 2015.
Arlene was born on February 16, 1937 in Emporia, the daughter of Ernest Henry and Elizabeth C. Erpelding Dieker. She married Edwin W. Shepherd in Emporia on July 5, 1955. He died on October 21, 2014 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include: her sons, Rodney and Kaylen of Emporia and Jeffrey of Reading, Kansas; brother, Gilbert Dieker; sisters, Rita O'Conner and Laverne Yokum; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Andrew Dieker; and a sister, Virginia Myers Bayless.
Arlene was a homemaker and a waitress. She also was a pawnbroker with her husband at Emporia Gun and Pawn for 28 years.
