Arlyne V. Fish

Arlyne V. Fish, 81 of Emporia, Kansas died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.

Arlyne V. Hilfiker was born February 15, 1930 in Salem, Oregon, the daughter of Ruebin and Irene (Boden) Hilfiker. Arlyne graduated high school with honors, where she learned to speak French, Italian, and German. She was a trained opera singer and had recorded several albums. She worked 23 years as the catalog supervisor at J.C. Penney in Emporia, Kansas. Arlyne was a member of a Bridge Club; and the Wednesday Morning Coffee Bowling League.

Arlyne married Leland F. Fish on September 6, 1949 in Salem, Oregon. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include: son, Dennis F. Fish of Emporia, Kansas; daughter, Laurene R. Allen of Emporia, Kansas; brother, Michael R. Hilfiker of Salem, Oregon; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, David A. Fish; and sister, Carol Gunn.

Funeral Services for Arlyne will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia, Kansas. Pastor Rick Grossenbacher of the Calvary Baptist Church in Emporia, Kansas will be officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, Kansas. Family will receive friends Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
