Barbara Jean Bruington, 66, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Barbara was born on August 15, 1950 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Wayne and Dorothy Swartz Gage. She married Terry Joe Bruington on December 23, 1968 in Phoenix, Arizona. He survives at the home.
Surviving family members include: husband, Terry J. Bruington of Olathe, Kansas; daughters, Brenda L. Bruington-Dunham and husband Derek Dunham of San Tan Valley, Arizona, and Donna M. Bruington of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, Alan Barraza, Shelby Hannah, Tarren Kalapis, Lilly Bruington, Asher Dunham, and Sophie Dunham; great-granddaughter Aurora Haze Kalapis.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter Michelle K. Bruington-Barraza.
Barbara was a retail manager for Kroger Grocery stores for over 23 years. She was a member of the Collage Church of the Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She dedicated her life to her family and the joys that come with it. She had a love for the arts that entered every aspect of her life, especially music. She always had a song in her heart.
Cremation is planned with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Patio Garden at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, Kansas. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Memorial contributions for Great Plains SPCA can be sent in care of the funeral home.
