Bernard Dean Davis

Bernard Dean Davis, 91 of Emporia, Kansas died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia.

Dean was born January 3, 1927 in Alma, Nebraska the son of Charlie Arthur and Charlena (Hagemann) Davis. He was the owner of Davis & Sons Exterminating Company and well known as a Wal-Mart greeter. Dean served in the US Navy on the USS Perry from 1944-1949. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, Knights of Columbus, Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion, Sertoma Club of Emporia, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7957, Fraternal order of the Eagle’s. Dean enjoyed attending dances at area Senior Centers and Rec Centers and playing cards.

Dean married Saraphine Zita Dreiling on December 28, 1948 in Russell, Kansas. She died April 4, 1988 in Emporia. He then married Marjorie Lindemann on April 26, 1997 in Emporia. She died February 12, 2007. Dean is survived by his sons Ronald Davis and wife Lana of Emporia, Roger Davis and wife Rita of Emporia, Kirk Davis and wife Dianna of Kansas City, Missouri, Craig Davis and wife Tonja of Emporia, brother Art Davis of Louisville, Kentucky, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, daughter Doreen Powers and son Kevin Davis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Father Brandon Farrar will be the Celebrant. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Emporia with the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard and Military Honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The Rosary will be recited 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sertoma Club of Emporia or the Knights of Columbus and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
