Bernard F. Meyer

Bernard F. Meyer, 91, Emporia, passed away at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor on Friday, June 22, 2018.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. The mass will be celebrated by Father Brandon Farrar of the church. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Cremation is planned.

Bernard F. Meyer was born October 10, 1926 in Sabetha, Kansas, the son of John B. and Viola (Winterscheidt) Meyer. He married Florence I. Riordan June 19, 1952 in Saint Joseph, Missouri. She passed away January 3, 2009 after fifty-seven years of marriage.

Surviving family members include Sons; Keith Meyer, Emporia, and Mark Meyer, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Daughters; Vicky Braddy, Emporia, Nancy Perilla, Haymarket, VA, and Jolene Watkins, Wichita, KS. Brother; Walter Meyer of Topeka, Eleven grandchildren and eighteen Great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Francis Meyer, as well as three brothers and one sister.

Bernard was a Store Manager for the A & P Grocery Stores for 35 years, and had been retired many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia, and the Knights of Columbus. He had served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion.
