Betty C. Edmunds

Betty Catherine Edmunds, 93, Emporia, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Presbyterian Manor in Emporia.

She was born July 29, 1932, in Bushong, Kansas, the daughter of Leo and Laurina (Harder) Fitch.

Betty was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated much of her life to her family and community. She served as a bur driver for District #251 for over 30 years, safely transporting generations of children.

On October 28, 1956, she married Lester L. Edmunds in Bushong. They shared 61 years of marriage before his passing on May 11, 2018.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Drennon and her husband, Dean, of Linwood, Kansas; her son-in-law, Jerry Schrock of Emporia; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Edmunds of Rural Allen, Kansas. Betty leaves behind a loving legacy of 8 grandchildren (14 including spouses) and 15 great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester Edmunds, two sons, Mark Edmunds and Randy Edmunds, and her daughter, Teresa Schrock.

Cremation is planned. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Americus Methodist Church, and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801 which is assisting with arrangements.
