Betty A. Gibson, 80 of Emporia, Kansas died Friday, April 15, 2016 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

Betty was born February 4, 1936 in Emporia the daughter of Thomas W. and Virginia L. (Woehlert) Nevitt. She was a graduate of Emporia High School and retired 15 years ago after working 16 years as the Document Control Manager at Flour-Daniel Construction. Betty was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #1980 Auxiliary.

Betty married Harold “Hal” K. Gibson on April 14, 1961 in Emporia. He died in 1991 in Emporia. She is survived by sons Clayton L. Gibson and Andre Hud Gibson both of Emporia, daughter Julie Michelle Bowers of Pensacola, Florida, brothers Tom Nevitt, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia and Joe Nevitt of Emporia, grandchildren Jessica Symmonds, Andre Gibson, Emily Gibson, Jacob Houston, and Thomas Houston, great-grandchildren Hunter and Madelynn Symmonds, Andre Memphis Eubanks, Kayla Brooke-Lynn and Kate-Lynn Downing.

Betty donated her body to University of Kansas Medical Center. A
Celebration of Life Luncheon will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #1980. Reverend Doctor Leonard Wagner of the Church of God of Prophecy will be officiating.
