Betty Lee Mounkes, 88, of Bushong, Kansas, died Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, Kansas.
Betty Lee was born February 24, 1927 in Reading, Kansas, the daughter of Jacob and Hazel (Peet) Sattler. She was a farmer and rancher all of her life. Betty also worked 20 years at Dolly Madison Bakery in Emporia and was a bartender for 20 years.
Betty married Harold Mounkes on August 12, 1948 in Emporia. He died July 27, 2005 in Emporia.
She is survived by two grandsons, Scott Van Gorden of Shawnee, Kansas, and Sean Van Gorden of Shawnee, Kansas, two great-grandchildren, Tyler Van Gorden and Jaycee Van Gorden, both of Shawnee; three sisters, Dorothy Mounkes of Topeka, Kansas, Wilma Tieperman of Dodge City, Kansas, and Doris Hotzel of Park City, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Ramona Van Gorden; four brothers, Robert Sattler, Clifford Sattler, Francis Sattler, and Harold Lloyd Sattler; and two sisters, Margaret Wagner and Marian Jones.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Cremation is planned following the visitation. Inurnment will be in Bushong Cemetery at a later date.
