Betty J. Wernli, 80, of Emporia died on Wednesday, October 02, 2013 at Holiday Resort in Emporia.
  
  
  
  Betty was born on April 5, 1933 in Burlington, Kansas, the daughter of Louis and Esther Kaufman Knapp. She married Roy Wernli on October 12, 1952 at Gridley, Kansas. He died on May 13, 2004 in Emporia.
  
  
  
  
  Surviving family members include: her sons, David Wernli and John Wernli of Emporia, and James Wernli of Wichita, Kansas; daughters, Barbara Huddleston of Shawnee, Kansas, and Mary Kraft of Emporia; her brothers, Duane Knapp of Maize, Kansas, Robert Knapp of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Louie Knapp of Forrest, Illinois, and Edward Knapp of Costa Mesa, California; sisters, Arlene Schwab of Francesville, Indiana, Marilyn Lepeska of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, and Ramona Herrmann of Peoria, Illinois; grandchildren, Sheila Treu of Emporia, Jason Miller of Bay City, Michigan, Katie, Darby, Ilya, Nadya and Graham Huddleston of Shawnee, Kansas, Aaron Leichner of Valley Center, Kansas, Adam Leichner of Norman, Oklahoma, Shanelle Canaday of Emporia, Danae Mills of Santa Clarita, California, Jonathan Wernli of Emporia, Samantha Kraft of Emporia, and Holly Kraft of Emporia; and nine great-grandchildren.
  
  
  
  She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Paul Wernli; a daughter, Nancy Wernli; a granddaughter, Grace Huddleston; two brothers, William Knapp and Clarence Knapp; and a sister, Mary Beyer Isch.
  
  
  
  Betty was a loving mother, daughter, sister and grandma. She loved gardening, quilting, and baking, and devoted her life to serving her family and following Christ, her Lord and Savior.
  
  
  
  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Harvest House of Flint Hills Christian Church, Emporia. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Lamont, Kansas.
