Beulah M. “Bea” Stine, 83, of Emporia, Kansas, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at her home.
Beulah M. Storey was born October 9, 1928 in Rural Hartford, Kansas, the daughter of William H. and Millie (French) Storey. In 1946, she married Charles Eugene “Gene” St. Bonnett in Topeka, Kansas, and they later divorced. She then married John R. Stine in 1970 in Council Grove, Kansas and they later divorced.
Beulah was a graduate of Hartford High School. She ran the Hartford Café for a while, and then worked as a secretary for USD 252 in Hartford. She later worked for several years at Crawford’s Manufacturing in Emporia. Beulah started her real estate career working for Century 21 Realtors in Emporia and at the time of her retirement in 2004, she was a real estate broker owning her own business – Bea Stine Real Estate.
Bea was a member of the First Christian Church in Emporia; member and past president of American Business Women’s Association, receiving the ABWA Woman of the year award in 1988; and member and past president of the Emporia Board of Realtors, receiving the Emporia Realtor of the year award in 1987.
Bea is survived by: son, Ronald St. Bonnett of Hartford; two daughters, Gloria Auchard of Council Grove and Cheryl Gibson of Emporia; four sisters, Ellen Kuertzel of Emporia, Margaret Bowen of Emporia, Rosalie Brenton of Eureka, Kansas, and Edith Mush of Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Owen Storey, William Dennis Storey, and James Lewis Storey; and three sisters, Laverne Miller, Ester Storey, and Louise Christy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Pastor Bob Colerick of the First Christian Church in Emporia will be officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation Friday, December 16, 2011 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery south east of Olpe, Kansas.
