Beulah May Phillips Spillman, a resident of the Cottonwood Community west of Emporia, Kansas, died at her home on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the age of 88.
Beulah May Phillips was born in Emporia, Kansas, on May 14, 1923, the daughter of Will and Ovoilette (Ruse) Phillips. Beulah and Virgil Spillman were married in Council Grove, Kansas, on April 15, 1947. He died in Emporia on October 18, 1988.
Beulah is survived by three daughters, Jeanne Turner and her husband, Willie, of Emporia, Cindy Baysinger and her husband, Dale, of Laramie, Wyoming, and Jackie Lake, of Emporia; a daughter-in-law, Judy Welch and her husband, David, of Emporia; brothers, Bob Phillips, Mission, Kansas, and LeeRoy Phillips, Emporia; sisters, Rose Sluder, Fleming Island, Florida, Alice Barrett, Mission, Kansas, and Marjorie Whitney, Hutchinson, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Lora Odle, and her husband Dave, Stephanie Humphrey and her husband, Richard, Todd Turner and his wife, Lori, Kelli Erickson and her husband, Leif, Chad Baysinger, and his wife, Shaunna, Abby Lake, Ashley Lake, and Taylor Lake; a grandson-In-Law, Manny Mesa; and four great-grandchildren, Josh Odle, Britany Odle, Aiden Mesa, and Logan Mesa.
She was preceded in death by her son, Glen Spillman (March 8, 1995); a brother, Ray Phillips; granddaughter, Lisa Spillman Mesa; and great-grandsons, Jack and Landon Erickson.
Mrs. Spillman was a member of the Cottonwood Friends Church, west of Emporia, the Cottonwood Friends Women, Miriam Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Cottonwood Community.
Beulah and her husband farmed in the Cottonwood Community west of Emporia.
Funeral services will be held at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Sunday, September 25, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. The service will be conducted by Rev. George Boesche, Cottonwood Friends Church. Burial will follow in Cottonwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening, September 24, 2011, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
