Bill D. Saueressig, 69, of rural Olpe, died Friday, October 21 at his home. The remains are to be cremated.
Billy Dean Saueressig, the son of Neil E. and Ora R. Tracy Saueressig was born July 10, 1947 in Lebo, KS. He was married to Frances E. Ferguson on August 30, 1968 in Prescott, AZ. She survives in the home.
Other surviving members of the family include a son, Timothy M. Saueressig of Bristow, OK; three brothers, Jim E. Saueressig of Lebo, Robert L. Saueressig, and Tom K. Saueressig, both of Burlington; and three grandchildren, Bobby Gambill, Marie Gambill and Martin Saueressig.
Bill worked at Emporia State University for 42 years, starting as General Maintenance Repairman, and retiring as the Assistant Director of Residential Life in 2014. He entered the US Navy in 1965 during the Vietnam War and was a member of Brinkman-Price Post #342 of the American Legion.
Bill’s Celebration of Life will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 28, 2016 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Mr. Leon Pimple, a fellow member of the American Legion, will be officiating. Bill’s ashes will be placed in the Fort Scott National Cemetery at a later date. Instead of flowers, memorial donations to Brinkman-Price Post #342, American Legion in Olpe, may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett.
