Brenda M. Kahle, Emporia, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Newman Regional Health Emergency Department, Emporia, at the age of 66.
Brenda Wodke was born October 14, 1950 in Council Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Leland “Bud” and Lola (Galemore) Wodke. Brenda married James “Jim” Kahle May 25, 1968 in Council Grove. Jim survives.
Other surviving family members include her daughter, Jacinda Kahle, Emporia; her son, Devin (Becky) Kahle, Whitewater, Kansas; sisters, Gloria Potter, Marion, Kansas, and Patricia (Calvin) Blount, Council Grove, Kansas; and her grandchildren, Cheyenne Coopman, Cierra Coopman, Bryce Kahle, and Lakin Kahle. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Brenda and Jim spent the first several years of their marriage building a family while farming near Dunlap, Kansas. After leaving the farm, Brenda spent a number of years working at Bluestem Farm & Ranch, and 17 years working for the Board of Education office of USD #253, Emporia. She retired from the school district in June of 2016.
During the 66 years of her life, Brenda built many friendships, traveling the country with her husband, Jim, and her children when they were still at home. She enjoyed going to watch her grandchildren’s ball games and various activities, spending time with all of her family, as well as visiting her many, many friends.
Cremation is planned. The will be no formal service, however, family and friends will have a gathering to share memories Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
