Longtime Emporia businessman, Bud B. Stanley, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at his home in Emporia, Kansas. He and his wife June owned and operated Stanley Jewelry in Emporia for 64 years, until his retirement in 2008.
Bud B. Stanley, the son of Fred L. and Lura McRenolds Stanley, was bon November 30, 1920 in Plains, Kansas. He married June Violet Oberg on November 15, 1947 in Emporia. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2008.
Survivors include: two daughters, Christine J. Stanley of Emporia, and Zandra Stanley-Rapoport of Santa Rosa, California; two sisters, Colleen Darro of Phoenix, Arizona, and Harriet Howland of Edmond, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Denise McNabb of Kansas City, Kansas, Erik Foster and Stanley Foster, both of Emporia, A.J. Rapoport and Christopher Rapoport, both of California; four great-grandchildren, Lily Foster, Magnolia Foster, Perry Foster and Adam Rapoport.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Mac Stanley.
He was a veteran of World War II in the Marine Corps and was a member of Ball-McColm Post #5 of the American Legion in Emporia. He was also a member of the Emporia Presbyterian Church, Emporia Masonic Lodge #12 A.F. & A.M., the Topeka Arab Shrine, and the Emporia Country Club.
He has been cremated, and there are no services planned. The family suggests contributions in Bud’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice, and sent in care of the funeral home.
