Carl Lee Bedner

Carl Lee Bedner, 88, Emporia, Kansas, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Sunflower Care Center, Emporia

Carl was born in Emporia, Kansas on October 12, 1936, the son of Cyril John and Lola Lee (Tucker) Bedner. Carl and Janet Carlene Hansen were married January 24, 1959. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son; Jeffrey Alan Bedner, sister Ruth Barrett, and brothers; Jerry and Harold Bedner. Surviving family members include his wife, Carlene, daughter, Laura Bedner Albertson (Gary), grand-daughter; Lenae Wells Hamman (Jesse), great-grandsons; Kreed Hamman, Koven Hamman, Davis Hamman, Drew Hamman, great-granddaughter; Kollins Hamman, step-grandson; Josh Wells, step-granddaughters; Emily Albertson Howard (Kevin), Megan Albertson, and Lindsey Albertson Peterson (Daniel), step-great-grandsons; Casen & Layken Peterson. Other survivors include, sister; Jane Mockry (Ron), sister-in-law; Pat Bedner, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bedner attended Union Street School, Sacred Heart School, and graduated from Emporia High School in 1955. In 2007 he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Sacred Heart School. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Bedner was employed for 26 years with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company, retiring in 1991.

Cremation is planned. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, conducted by Father Nicholas Ashmore. Burial will be at a later date TBD in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia.
