Carl Hensley

Carl Hensley, 82, Emporia, Kansas, died at Flint Hills Care Center, Emporia, on Monday, May 6, 2013.


Carl was born April 4, 1931 in Matfield Green, Kansas, the son of Walter Lee and Vera (Laughridge) Hensley.


He was the loving father of Carol Anne Turner, who passed away earlier, Patricia M. Hardin, Hunnewell, Kansas, Carl James Hensley, Wellington, Kansas, Donald Ray Hensley, Emporia, and Brenda Lee Norris, Jenks, Oklahoma. He is also survived by sisters, Vera Lee Williams, Emporia, Lou Hamman and Julia Rempfer in Missouri, and Shirley Hensley, Lebo, Kansas; brother, Walt Hensley, Jr.; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.


He is also survived by his companion, Bonnie Albin, whom he loved dearly.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Margaret McAuliffe; daughter, Carol
Anne Turner; granddaughter, Chatqua Youniacutt, great-grandsons, James E. Hensley, Jr. and Dakota Lee Norris; as well as several brothers and sisters.


Mr. Hensley was a graduate of Lebo High School, and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was employed by Hansen Radiator Shop and the Emporia Country Club. He enjoyed painting, fishing and western movies.


He was loved and will be missed by all.


Cremation is planned. A graveside inurnment service will be held at the Lincoln Cemetery, west of Lebo on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. The service will be conducted by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
