Carol June Collins, a lifelong resident of Emporia, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on January 19, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by her family.
Born on June 28, 1930, in Emporia, Carol was the daughter of James D. and Bess (Weaver) Adam. In November of 1950, she married her husband, Larry R. Collins, in their hometown of Emporia. Larry continues to reside at their home, that he built for their family in 1964.
June is lovingly remembered by her family: her daughter, Leigh Ann Collins of Overland Park, Kansas; her sons, Gus (Sally) Collins of Rose Hill, Kansas, and Mitchell (Debra) Collins of Blue Springs, Missouri; her brother, Richard "Dick" Adam of California; her sister, Mary Smiley of Emporia, Kansas; her grandchildren, Tara (Brandon) Keele of St. Louis, Missouri, and Brogan (Levi) Huneke of Georgetown, Texas; and her great-granddaughter, Penelope Keele.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Doug Collins, her brother Jim Adam, and her sisters Betty Notson and Margaret "Peg" Morgan.
June initially worked at the College of Emporia before becoming a paralegal at the Atherton, Hurt and Sanderson law firm. After retiring from the law firm, she worked, part-time, in the office of Burnap Bros Plumbing and Heating. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending on Sundays with her sister Mary. June belonged to a bridge club and loved playing bridge with Larry and their friends. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma sorority and enjoyed reunions with her sorority sisters. June also looked forward to their annual trips to Arizona each winter to stay with their dear friend T. Baker. June was a loyal KC Royals and KC Chiefs fan. She fell in love with baseball; traveling with Larry to watch him pitch for the local town team.
