Carol Frances Herman, 91, of Emporia, Kansas, died on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka, Kansas.
Carol was born on March 21, 1922 in Lyon County, Kansas, the daughter of James R. and Mary E. Lapsley Eaton. She married August LeRoy Hermann on October 6, 1941 in Emporia, he died on September 26, 1989 in Emporia. She later married Charles L. Herman on December 31, 1994 in Emporia. He died on December 19, 2010 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include her daughters, Debra A. Vanderman, and husband Bruce of Madison, and Dee Meyer and husband Richard of Hartford; three grandsons, Jason Meyer of Hartford, Mark Meyer of Hartford, and Josh Vanderman of Madison; and a great-granddaughter, Audrey Meyer of Abilene.
She is preceded in death by her two husbands, and two brothers, Earl and Ralph L. Eaton.
Carol worked for Hallmark Cards in Emporia for 15 years before going to Credit Bureau of East Central Kansas as an office manager. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altar Society.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May16, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia. The family requests no flowers, with memorial contributions instead, to Emporia Friends of the Zoo. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
