Carrie Gibson, 91, of Emporia died on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia.
Carrie was born on December 31, 1924 in Pasco, Washington the daughter of Reuben C. and Mabel L. McCoy Burris. She married Rolland “Ron” Neil Gibson on July 10, 1945 in Emporia, Kansas. He survives.
Other survivors include: daughter, Peggy L. Barnhart and husband Robert of Emporia; sons, Roland “Ronnie” C. Gibson of Emporia, and Jimmy D. Gibson and wife Donna of Berryton, Kansas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Donald P. Burris, and Reuben Robert Burris, sisters
Nellie Emley, and Margaret Vickery, and great-grandson Ty Barnhart.
Carrie worked at Diane’s Card Shop, Peak & Hatcher Sale Barn, and Stanley Jewelry. For years she baked and decorated cakes. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the Get Together Club.
Funeral services will be 10:30 Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with burial following at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. Visitation will be Tuesday night from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the Hand in Hand Hospice can be sent in care of the funeral home.
