Catherine W. Carter, 111, a resident of the Jones Health Center, Emporia Presbyterian Manor, died there on Saturday December 18, 2010.
Catherine Williams was born at Burlingame, Kansas November 22, 1899, to Wesley and Anna Hinds Williams. She married Allen Carter on October 12, 1926 at Mount Olive AME Church, Emporia, Kansas. He died March 23, 1959.
Mrs. Carter worked at the Newman Tea Room.
Mrs. Carter was a member of the Mount Olive AME Church and the Naomi Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elijah B. Williams and Clayton Williams; and an infant daughter. She is survived by several cousins.
Funeral services will be held at the Mount Olive AME Church, Emporia, Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be conducted by Pastor Benjamin Finnell. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery.
