Charles R. Crawford, 88, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
  
  
  Charles Robert Crawford, the son of Robert and Hazel McKee Crawford, was born on June 11, 1922 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He married Thelma Dailey-Loomis on March 1, 1946 in Topeka, Kansas. She survives of the home.
  
  
  He is also survived by one son, J. Robert Crawford of Kent, Washington, and three grandchildren.
  
  
  He was preceded in death by one stepson, James Duane Loomis.
  
  
  Charles was an engineer in the drafting and design department at Didde Graphics. While he was in the Army Air Corps, during WW II he was an aircraft designer and mechanic. He had also been an engineer for NASA on the Saturn V space program.
  
  
  He was a member of AMORC of the Rosicrucian Order, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Emporia Masonic Lodge # 12 A.F. & A.M. and the Topeka Consistory of the Scottish Rite. He had been very active with the Emporia All Veterans Memorial group.
  
  
  The memorial service will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 2, 2011, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Rev. Lee Hoskins will officiate. Masonic services by Emporia Masonic Lodge #12 and Military Honors by Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Inurnment will be in the Union Cemetery, east of Emporia, at a later date.
  
  
  The family requests, rather than sending flowers, memorial donations be made to the Charles R. Crawford Memorial Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
