Charles A. Greig, 96 of Emporia, Kansas died Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at his home.
Charles was born July 14, 1921 in Osborne, Kansas the son of Will and Icy (Steerman) Greig. He served in the US Army during WWII. Charles worked as the transportation superintendent at Kansas Power and Light until he started Greig Oil Company. He retired in 1986. Charles attended the Church of God of Prophecy and was a member of the Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion.
Charles married Edith Schorer on July 7, 1945 in El Paso, Texas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include: sons Charles L. Greig and wife Janice of Emporia, Richard Greig and wife Marcia of Overland Park, daughter Shirley Richardson and husband Jim of Emporia, son-in-law David Campbell and wife Donna of Rose Hill, son-in-law Dennis Fish of Wichita, grandchildren Brian Richardson, Christine Hardwick, Becky Baumgardner, Floyd Thomas, Darin Campbell, Charles W. Greig, Kevin Fish, Brad Richardson, Dalonda Sanders, Bob Richardson, Justin Thomas, Cheryl Lagasse, Allison Williams, Amy Jackson, Karen B’Hymer, Jamison Greig, Danica Appleton, Allison Reeve and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Davena Campbell, Lonna Thomas, Jerilynn Fish, son-in-law Warren Thomas, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Messiah Lutheran Church. Pastor Leonard Wagner of the Church of God of Prophecy will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 2, 2018 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. Military Honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
