Clara M. Baltz, Emporia, Kansas, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia. She was 89.

Clara M. Pittman was born at Bartlesville, Oklahoma on December 23, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Martha Pittman. She married Donald T. Baltz on February 18, 1967. He died July 10, 1986.

Mrs. Baltz is survived: by her son, Sherman (Kristine) Rutherford, Grain Valley, Missouri; daughters, Marilyn Hennes, Neosho Rapids, Kansas, and Theresa (Dean) Teter, Circleville, Kansas; brothers, Charles (Kathy) Pittman, California, and John (Bev) Pittman, Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

Before moving to Emporia a number of years ago, Mrs. Baltz was a seamstress for the Slim Maker Dress Factory in Holton, Kansas. While living in Emporia, she and her husband, Don owned and operated Spic-N-Span Laundry, and she was also employed at Interstate Brands/Dolly Madison Bakery in Emporia. In 1969 they moved to Bentonville, Arkansas, where she was a Shaklee Distributor. Mrs. Baltz returned to Emporia shortly after the death of her husband.

She had formerly attended Grace United Methodist Church, Emporia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 18, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by Pastor Al Areheart, Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church, Emporia. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
