Clarence Robert “Junior” Martin, 90, of the Olpe/ Hartford, Madison/Lamont areas died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the Burlington Life Care Center.
Clarence was born August 20, 1923 in rural Lyon County, the son of C.R. Martin, Sr., and Mimia Lucy Wilson Martin. He married Lucille B. Blahut on August 17, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. She died on June 22, 1984 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include his sons, Roland K. Martin and wife Rosemary of Hartford, Kevin S. Martin of Topeka, Robert K. Martin of Hartford, and Brian J. Martin of Hartford; daughter, LeAnne M Wegner of Post Falls, Idaho; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille; infant daughter Denise; and four brothers, Clayton, Warren, Stanley, and Dale Martin.
Clarence was a lifelong farmer and stockman. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe, the Knights of Columbus, Olpe Lyons Club, Farm Bureau, Community 4-H Leader for 26 years, former director of the Dairy Farmers of America, board member of the Olpe Rural Fire Department, and a former St. Joseph School board member in Olpe.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 15, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday evening, May 14, 2014 from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M., at which time the Rosary will be recited. Memorial contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church may be sent in care of the funeral home.
