Emporia

I wanted to share some sad news with you. Claud Dean "Fletch" Fletcher, age 78, passed away at his home here in Emporia on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Fletch was born on November 30, 1946, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and was the son of Claud Fletcher and Betty Jane Canny Fletcher. He atended Hutchinson Junior College and graduated from Emporia State Teachers College. From April 1966 to May 1972, Fletch served in the United States Army. Many of you knew him as the "Corvette Driving Fool." He was a gifted welder working in both Hutchinson and Emporia. Fletch's passion for Corvettes started with his first one, a 1963 split window, and continued with many more, including his last, a 2007 Corvette. He loved nature, enjoying hunting, fishing, sailing, scuba diving, or simply driving with the wind in his hair.

He is survived by his companion, Carol Means of Emporia; a daughter, Ashley Robbins; stepson, John Harbison; a sister, Tammy Fletcher Long; and a brother, Tom Fletcher. Fletch was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby Dean Fletcher; and sisters, Delores, Mona D., and Cathy.

Cremation has taken place, and there are no services planned.
