Claudean Casida, Emporia, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Newman Regional Health at the age of 90.
Claudean Cook was born in Emporia on June 5, 1928, the daughter of Jerry and Clara (Wagner) Cook. She married Albert J. “Hoppy” Casida at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, Emporia on January 7, 1948. He died August 10, 2006.
Surviving members of the family include her daughters; Belinda C. (Joe) Tabares, Emporia, Shirley Darlene Briggs, Topeka, KS, brothers; Donald Cook, Sr. and William “Bill” Cook both in Emporia, sister; Dorothy Fehr, Emporia, grandchildren; Jamie (Damien) Tabares, Shelley (Manuel) Gutierrez, Elvis Tabares, Jay Briggs, and Connie Heiland, and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by a sister and two brothers.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Reebles South Grocery Store and later in the food service department of the Emporia School District and had been retired several years. Claudean was a member of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, and the Auxiliaries of Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion in Emporia.
Funeral services will be at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. The service will be conducted by Pastor Peter Rehwaldt, Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
