Cleo E. Stone, 93, formerly of Toledo, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at his home in Olathe, Kansas.

Cleo Eugene Stone, the son of William A. and Gladys M. Hankins Stone, was born July 31, 1920 in Toledo. He married Marion Elizabeth Hudson on February 19, 1944 in Council Grove, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 27, 2009.

Cleo is survived by a son, Steven Stone of Shawnee; two daughters, Pamela Hodges and her husband Richard of Claremore, Oklahoma and Cheryl Kruger of Lenexa, Kansas; a sister, Betty Lou Stone of Alexandria, Virginia; four grandchildren, Brian Hodges, Heather Hodges, Vaughn Kruger, and Amanda Kruger Riggs; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Hodges, Zadok Riggs, Lachlan Riggs, Sebastian Riggs and Miles Kruger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, James Stone.

Cleo received his Associates Degree from Kansas State University and worked as a Civil Engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 35 years. He was a member of Park Street Church of Christ in Olathe, where he served many years as a deacon and treasurer. He served in the Army during WWII.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Brother Ted J. Thrasher of Park Street Church of Christ in Olathe will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Toledo, Kansas. Military Honors at the cemetery will be provided by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion, and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
