Clifford Alvin Ellis, 95 of Waverly, Kansas died Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Sunset Manor in Waverly.

Clifford was born August 17, 1923 in Hartford, Kansas the son of Charley and Anna (McCullough) Ellis. He graduated from Emporia State University with a duel major. Clifford owned and operated DARE, Inc. an office and machine supply company in Emporia for many years. He retired from K.P.L. after working as a dispatcher for 15 years. Clifford served in the US Army. He was a member of the Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion, Sertoma Club, Emporia Jaycees, the First Congregational Church in Emporia and the Radiant Life Church in New Strawn, Kansas. He loved playing golf and dancing.

On February 1, 1944 Clifford married Nelma Jean Boyd at the Grace United Methodist Church Parsonage. She died March 15, 2007 in Emporia. Clifford is survived by a son James D. Ellis of Shoreham, Vermont, a daughter Renee J. Branson of Burlington, Kansas, a sister Mildred Hohne of Tampa, Florida, 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Charles Ellis, Lester Ellis, and Lewis Ellis, and a sister Margaret Hubbard.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service is planned for April 17, 2019.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or the S.E. Coffey County Honor Flight and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
