Clois Ensminger

Clois Ensminger, 90, a longtime resident of Emporia, KS, died early Saturday morning, December 18, 2010, at Holiday Resort following a brief illness.

Clois was born August 31, 1920 in Elizabeth, AR, the daughter of Fred L. Zirnstein, Sr. and Ruth Estel Guffey Zirnstein. The Zirnsteins move to Emporia in 1922. Clois married Howard E Ensminger in 1938, and they started farming Northwest of Emporia. In 1958, the family moved to town.

She is survived by: a brother Fred L. Zirnstein, Jr. of Mammoth Springs, AR; two daughters, Clois Erlene Hobble and husband Clayton of Emporia, and Carole Ann Paige and husband Marvin of Southbury, CT; daughter-in-law Anne Ensminger of Covington, GA; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Ensminger was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son E. Eugene Ensminger of Covington, GA, and two brothers, Clovis and Calvin Zirnstein of Emporia.

After moving to town, Clois worked at various occupations, but her favorite work was being a homemaker and cooking was her talent and love. She was active in the Model Boosters 4-H Club, Past President of the Social Order of Beauceant and Worthy President of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Services will be held at the West Side Baptist Church at 2 pm Wednesday, December 22, 2010. The Family will receive friends at the church the hour before the service. Following the service, burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Side Baptist Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
