Consuelo V. “Connie” Roblez, 92, of Emporia died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Flint Hills Care and Rehab Center, after complications from a fall.
Connie was born on May 6, 1934, in Jerome, Idaho, the daughter of Anita and Valente Villa. She moved to Emporia in August 1938, and was raised by her grandparents Jose and Evangelina Garcia.
She married Hector J. Roblez on May 9, 1953, at St. Catherine’s Church of Emporia, where she also was baptized and confirmed. He preceded her in death in April 1982.
Connie primarily was a homemaker and worked for the Broadview Hotel, St. Mary’s Hospital, Stanley Jewelry and Sigman Jewelers. She loved to go to auctions and collected antiques, primarily Hummel figurines, 19th century crocks and china dolls. She is a longtime volunteer for the Lyon County Democratic Party.
Surviving family members include her son Jeffrey Roblez of Olathe and daughters Jennifer Robles of Emporia and Amy (Robert) Pennington of Shawnee, Kansas, and her grandchildren Matthew Pennington of Lenexa, Sarah (Justin) Krivena of Prairie Village and Joseph Pennington of Shawnee. She also is survived by her grandson Alexander (Erica) Benson and her great-granddaughters Alice and June of Overland Park, Kansas. Her sister Mary Hilda Grauel of Park City, Kansas, and her brother John Villa of Salt Lake City also survive.
In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents and eldest daughter, Sharon Benson, and sister, Esperanza “Jo” Herndon, and brother, Rudy Villa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at the St. Catherine’s Church on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 26, 2026 at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:30.
