Dale D. Fields, 88, of Emporia, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Holiday Resort.
Dale Dewitt Fields, the son of John and Edith Conrad Fields, was born on April 7, 1927 in Harveyville. He had been a Navy Seabee in the Korean War, and was a blacksmith for the Santa Fe Railroad for 32 years. He later owned and operated the Playport Resort on Table Rock Lake in Shell Knob, MO for over 20 years. He also was a member of the Shell Knob V.F.W. Post #2203.
Surviving members of the family include four sons, Roger Fields and Gary Fields, both of Emporia, John Fields of Hartford, and Larry Fields of Salome, AZ; a daughter, Marsha Amos of Reno, NV; a sister, El Dana Nichols of Hiawatha; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, and a granddaughter.
Mr. Fields donated his body to the K.U. School of Medicine. There are no services planned. A private family committal at Harveyville Cemetery will be at a later date.
The family requested the memorial fund be to Meals on Wheels. Donations may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett funeral home.
