Dale Lewis Moore

Dale Lewis Moore of Emporia died on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was 80.

Dale was born on August 20, 1945, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of L.J. and Hazel Lewis Moore. He married Barbara Gravatt on June 27, 1970, at the First Church of God in Emporia. She survives.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Moore of Emporia; sons, Danny (Sheryl Davis-Moore) Moore of Acton, California and Daren (Laura) Moore of Emporia; daughter, Darlena (Ron) Sherwood of Strong City; grandchildren, Alex Moore, Nate Moore, Austin Moore, and Brooke Moore with his first great-granddaughter coming the first part of June.

He is preceded in death by his parents L.J. and Hazel Moore, grandparents Dale and Ida Lewis and Louis and Alexander Moore.

Dale graduated from Emporia Hight School and then attended Flint Hills Vo-Tech College. He later attended Emporia State University. Dale worked at the Rainbow Bakery in Emporia later going on to Diddle-Glasier in the paint shop and then moving to the drafting department. He later moved on and was a Welder at Sauder Tank for 35 years, but through all these jobs he was at Moore’s Greenhouse and Moore’s Custom Woodcrafts.

Cremation is planned with the Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with the visitation starting an hour prior to the service. Private burial will be at a later date at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Emporia Friends of the Zoo in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O.
